FAQ

WHAT IS SERVE THE WARRIOR

Inspired by the ancient indigenous rituals practiced when a warrior returned home, Serve the Warrior is a yearly, national, nonpartisan, healing and art therapy retreat exclusively for American Veterans with psychological and cognitive wounds of war, such as post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and traumatic brain injury. This nonpartisan, three day retreat is free of cost for all of those who qualify. Serve the Warrior creates a safe space for Veterans to explore mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual healing and rehabilitation. Veterans take home practical tools and techniques that can be applied in their daily life.

Upon the completion of each annual Serve the Warrior retreat, interested Veterans and civilians can join the upcoming year’s planning team of volunteers. This community support allows Serve the Warrior  to expand across the nation with programming  specifically catered to each locale.

What is mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual healing and rehabilitation?

These can range from, but are not limited to: appointments with doctors and therapists, chiropractic treatment, kinesiology, yoga, swimming, meditation, tai chi, massage, reflexology, acupuncture, aroma therapy, balms, animal therapy, American Indian/indigenous ceremonies, drum circles, dancing, storytelling, writing, acting, painting, performances by musicians, dancers, and actors, film screenings, lectures from experts in their fields, and partnering with community members.
